Speaker: Motomi Mori, PhD, MBA, Chair and Member (Professor),
Department of Biostatistics, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, USA.

Abstract: The Caucus for Women in Statistics (CWS) was formally recognized as an American Statistical Association (ASA) affiliated organization in 1971 with Donna Brogan as the founding president. More than fifty years the CWS has provided a forum for advocacy, education and research on various challenging issues such as equal opportunities, equal rights, salary equity, leadership, implicit bias, sexual harassment, diversity, equity, and inclusion. In this session, I will provide a brief history of CWS, its present activities, as well as the status of women in statistics and data science in the United States, ASA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts, and the Women in Leadership & Learning (WILL) program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The session is intended to promote dialogues and conversations on efforts to increase participation of women in statistics and data science in Japan.
