1. Privacy policy for personal data subject to EU GDPR

This page explains the privacy policy of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics for personal data subject to EU General Data Protection Regulation No 2016/679 (hereinafter "GDPR").

We'll only use your personal data on relevant lawful grounds as permitted by Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information and GDPR.

2. What personal data do we collect?

Your personal data (for example, name, institution, email) will be collected and used by us only in connection with specific activities for editing Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics and Proceedings of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics (hereafter "the journals").

3. How we use your personal data

Personal data provided to us will be used for the purpose(s) outlined and in a transparent manner at the time of collection or registration when appropriate, in accordance with any preferences you express. If asked by the police, or any other regulatory or government authority investigating suspected illegal activities, however, we may need to provide your personal data.

We take appropriate organizational and technical security measures to protect your personal data and to prevent divulgation, misuse, loss or alteration thereof.

Handling your submission

We use the personal data to handle your submissions to the journals.

Asking for a peer-review

We use the personal data to ask you to review submissions to the journals and to keep a record of these review processes.

Calling for papers

We use the personal data to encourage you to submit a paper to the journals.

Editorial

We use the personal data to contact authors for proofreading and to send reprints.
We may also use the personal data to find possible specialists who will help us as an associate editor of the journals.

4. Outsourcing

We may outsource all or part of the personal data processing in editing, printing and other purpose necessary for issuing the journals. Such outsourcing may involve transferring personal data out of the European Economic Area (EEA). For each of these transfers we make sure that we provide an adequate level of protection to the data transferred.

5. Retention period

We do not store your personal data any longer than necessary for the purposes for which we collect the personal data.

6. Your data protection rights

When we use your personal data on the basis of consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. However, such withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on the consent before withdrawal thereof.
