The ISM^2 Seminar and the MoU between UM and ISM
The Seminar and the Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Malaya University (UM) of Malaysia and the Institute of Statistical Mathematics (ISM) of Japan were held at UM in Malaysia on September 16, 2017.
UM and ISM had some friendship before. Prof. T. Higuchi, Director-General of ISM and other staff paid a visit to UM formally with the introduction by Prof. K. Shimizu in November 2014. Then Prof. Kawasaki of ISM invited Dr. Wan Ainun Mior Othman and Dr. Adriana Irawati Nur Ibrahim from UM to ISM in last February. And then finally, UM and ISM got opportunity to join the seminar together and to sign the MoU.
Prof. Ibrahim Bin Mohamed，Prof. Kurunathan Ratnavelu, Dr. Ng Choung Min, Prof. Mohd Bin Omar had each talk from UM and Prof. Higuci, Prof. Kawasaki and Dr. H. Nagahata, Project Researcher from ISM had each talk at the seminar.
Soon after the seminar, MoU Signing Ceremony was held. Thanks to the staff of UM who took care of this issue very well, both seminar and ceremony were held with warm atmosphere.
With this MoU, both organizations have promised much more fruitful academic exchange including visiting and accepting research staff, promoting joint research and so on each other.
We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who was involved in the matter of this seminar and MoU both at UM and ISM.
