研究目的と成果（経過）の概要

現在、最適化の分野では内点法と呼ばれる手法が活発に研究されている。共同研究者らは、著名な内点法の一つである線形計画問題に対するアフィンスケーリング法について、大域的収束性などに関する研究を行ってきた。本研究の目的は、この方面での著名な研究者であるR.Saigal教授（ミシガン大学）が来日するのを機に、さまざまな側面から、アフィンスケーリング法系統の内点法の収束性に関する共同研究を行うことである。


層分割を用いた内点法、半正定値計画問題などを中心に研究を進め、以下の成果を得た。また、Romesh Saigal 博士は6月中旬に来日し、2週間ほどアフィンスケーリング法、半正定値計画法について共同研究を行った。土谷は Renato Monteiro 博士を1995年秋に訪問し、2週間ほどアフィンスケーリング法について共同研究を行った。

共同研究者の一人で来日が予定されているRomesh Saigal教授は、６月末から７月中旬にかけて、Singapoleで開かれる米国経営工学会主催の国際会議に出席したのちに来日する予定である。３週間ほど当研究所に滞在し、非線形最適化問題に対するアフィンスケーリング法、線形計画問題に対する主双対アフィンスケーリング法の大域的収束性などについてを行う。また、もう一人の共同研究者であるRenato monteiro助教授（ジョージア工科大学）は、e-mail、国際電話、Faxなどを通じて参加する。また、Romesh Saigal教授の来日中に、Mini Workshopを研究所で開催する予定である。
