Purpose
- Recent development of information technology has caused an inundation of data on the internet,
and advance of measurement technology are producing a huge amount of scientific data
in many areas such as biology, meteorology, cosmology, and so on.
To tackle with this "big-data" situation, better mathematical understanding of large and
high-dimensional data is indispensable to develop new methodology beyond classical methods
which are suitable for low-dimensional data. This workshop aims at discussing
new mathematical foundations for large and high-dimensional data and methods for data analysis
suitable for such big data.
The workshop will be held for three days in Tachikawa campus (Tokyo) of the
Institute of Statistical Mathematics. The language of the workshop is English.
