Interpreting multidimensional data in reduced space is a time-honored procedure in multidimensional data analysis. However, note that two data points in multidimensional space looks closer to each other than they actually are if viewed in reduced space.
Similarly, the correlation between two variables in multidimensional space becomes inflated if the variables are correlated in reduced space. This talk demonstrates how wrong the time-honored procedure is and suggests an alternative to it. |
