International Advisory Board Meeting FY 2023 was held

International Advisory Board Meeting for FY 2023 took place at the Institute of Statistical Mathematics (ISM) on February 19, 2024.

Prof. Jibum Kim, a member of the International Advisory Board, attended the meeting along with Prof. Tsubaki, Director-General; Prof. Minami, Vice Director-General; Prof. Kawasaki, Vice Director-General; Prof. Yamashita, Vice Director-General; Associate Prof. Maeda, and Associate Prof. Park from ISM. Prof. Kim is affiliated with Sungkyunkwan University, with which ISM signed an MOU in Survey Science NOE.

During the meeting, participants discussed various challenges facing survey science research at ISM, including securing budgetary allocations, recruiting workforce and research personnel, particularly young researchers, and enhancing international collaboration efforts.

Prof. Kim will write an advisory report for ISM, based on the discussions regarding research and education activities at the meeting, as well as insights gained from the facility tour conducted on that day. This report is anticipated to be crucial in shaping the future research planning and management strategies at ISM.
